Job summary

Thames Water Utilities Limited is hiring a Process Technician in Cirencester. The role is a full-time, 38-hour week position with a base location at Cirencester STW.

You will monitor and maintain wastewater treatment processes, ensuring safety and environmental compliance, including weekend rotas and on-call payments. The role welcomes candidates from outside the water sector and emphasizes teamwork, adaptability, and a strong safety ethos.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Ensure sites run safely, efficiently and within site specifications.

• Take ownership of health and safety and escalate concerns when needed.
• Collate and report data to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Work weekends on a rotation after stabilising pattern.

You will be part of the frontline operations team that covers the picturesque Cotswolds with its main base at Bourton on the Water STW. The role is an essential front-line role, which the business simply cannot operate without you. Every day is different, you will be working in all weather conditions carrying out a range of tasks, to ensure the essential functions of our wastewater treatment works operate to maintain the supply to our customers and protect the environment.

Base Location: Cirencester STW - GL7 6DA

Working Pattern or hours: Monday-Friday 7:30-15:36, 38 hours per week including working on a call-out rota where you will receive additional payment.

What you’ll be doing as a Process Technician

• Ensuring our sites are running safely, efficiently and within permitted site specifications to protect the environment.
• You will be responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining equipment and reporting any defective items to ensure a swift repair or attempting a first-time fix where possible.
• You will be expected to take ownership of your own and colleagues' health and safety by escalating any concerns to your manager or resolving them yourself where possible and appropriate.
• Collating and reporting of data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.
• Once on the full working pattern you will be working 1 weekend every 6 weeks

You do not need a background in the Water industry. We would welcome applications from candidates outside of the sector, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas, but you must be:

• Comfortable working outdoors, potentially in all weather conditions.
• Prepared to work within the company’s rota of a 7-day working week and participate on a standby rota.
• Part of a team that delivers excellent performance by understanding how you affect the overall mission of Thames Water.
• Have a good sense of humour, because of what you will be working with and not to be too squeamish.
• Adaptable, flexible, patient, reliable and self-motivated.
• Good with time management.
• Confident to work effectively and efficiently on your own.
• Keen to learn and operate complex processes with high-quality controls.
• Able to complete basic tasks on a computer e.g., be able to input site performance data and view their day's work via a hand-held device.

What you should bring to the role

• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience in delivering against challenging upper-quartile business targets and performance commitments.
