About The Role

Reporting to the site team, the Process Technician at Horley (Surrey) STW supports frontline operations across sewage treatment works. This full-time post, with a competitive salary from £29,349 per annum, suits those keen to learn, as no prior waste or water background is required. Duties include planned preventative maintenance, routine checks and fault reporting in all weather, travelling between multiple sites. Reliability, practical problem-solving, mechanical aptitude and a safety-first approach matter more than sector experience. Training is provided, so applicants from other industries are welcome. Working outdoors, the post-holder helps maintain supply for customers while protecting the surrounding environment.

We have a great opportunity for a Process Technician to join our team at Horley (Surrey) STW. You do not need a background in the waste or water industry. We would welcome applications from candidates outside of the sector, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas. This role is an essential front-line role, which the business simply cannot operate without you. Every day is different; you will be working in all weather conditions, carrying out a range of tasks across multiple sites to ensure the essential functions of our sewage treatment works operate to maintain the supply to our customers and protect the environment. Planned preventative maintenance of equipment to support the operation of the plant. Base Location: Horley (Surrey) STW – RH6 8HE

Working Pattern: 38 Hours Monday - Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase your earning potential upon completion of essential company training.

Due to the nature of this role, you must hold a full UK driver's licence.

What You’ll Be Doing As The Process Technician

• Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on plant and equipment in compliance with company standards and procedures to improve plant resilience.
• Operating and cleaning plant and equipment to ensure on-site operational and health and safety standards are maintained.
• Attending reactive jobs following plant and equipment failure.
• Keeping sites clean and tidy and undertaking safety and security checks.
• Carrying out daily site checks to ensure compliant operation

What You Should Bring To The Role

• Be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves in the team around them; you need to be very disciplined, have the desire to learn from those around you and have a can-do attitude. This role can be demanding at times but very rewarding too.
• Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team.
• Teamwork – We are one team, and our end goals are the same.
• Proactive – take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively.
• Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
• Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.
• Full UK driver's licence
