Job summary

Thames Water in Oxford is seeking a Process Technician to support front-line operations across multiple sites. No prior experience in waste or water is required, and full training is provided, making this a strong entry point into the industry.

You will work at Oxford Sewage Treatment Works with a 38-hour week and a full UK driving licence. The role includes planned maintenance, operating and cleaning plant, and reactive duties to keep the plant running and protect the environment.

About the role:

Based at Oxford Sewage Treatment Works, this full‑time Process Technician post supports front‑line operations across several sites. No prior waste or water sector experience is required; applicants from other industries are welcomed. Daily duties include planned preventative maintenance, equipment checks and general tasks in all weathers to keep treatment processes running and protect the environment.

A competitive salary starts at £28,335 annually, dependent on skills and experience.

We have a great opportunity for a Process Technician to join our team at Oxford Sewage Treatment Works. You do not need a background in the waste or water industry. We would welcome applications from candidates outside of the sector, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas. This role is an essential front‑line role, which the business simply cannot operate without you. Every day is different; you will be working in all weather conditions carrying out a range of tasks across multiple sites to ensure the essential functions of our sewage treatment works operate to maintain the supply to our customers and protect the environment. Planned preventative maintenance of equipment to support the operation of the plant.

What you’ll be doing as the Process Technician

Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on plant and equipment in compliance with company standards and procedures to improve plant resilience.

Operating and cleaning plant and equipment to ensure on‑site operational and health and safety standards are maintained.

Attending reactive jobs following plant and equipment failure.

Keeping sites clean and tidy and undertaking safety and security checks.

Carrying out daily site checks to ensure compliant operation.

Base Location

Oxford STW, Grenoble Road, Sandford‑on‑Thames, Oxford, OX4 4XU

Working Pattern

38 Hours Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 15:36pm.

Due to the nature of this role you must hold a full UK drivers Licence (manual).
