Job summary

Pertemps Thames Water is seeking a Process Scientist – Clean Water based at Farmoor with hybrid working. You will provide expert technical support to field operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and help meet internal targets while contributing to treatment works knowledge and decision-making.

• Essential HNC or Degree (or equivalent) in a Scientific or Engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and report infringements and feedback on remedial actions for Operations Teams.
• Provide support to Capex schemes/Projects as required.
• Develop professional relationships with Operations, Engineering and other internal customers.
• Liaise with water quality monitoring teams (catchment, groundwater, regulatory response).
• Identify developments/optimisations to improve asset performance and suggest initiatives.

This full-time post as Process Scientist – Clean Water sits within the clean water production team and is based at Farmoor, with hybrid working available. The successful applicant provides technical guidance to an operational crew, safeguarding regulatory compliance and helping satisfy internal targets. Daily duties involve examining and documenting infringements, recommending corrective measures, and delivering knowledgeable assistance across treatment works. A company van is supplied for fieldwork. Working hours total 36 each week. Compensation reaches £40,000 yearly, negotiable according to abilities and background. Candidates should demonstrate analytical thinking, problem-solving, plus strong communication when advising colleagues and reporting findings. What you’ll be doing as the Process Scientist

• Investigate and report about infringements, and feedback on remedial actions and share learnings with the Operations Teams.
• Provide support to Capex schemes/Projects as required.
• Develop professional working relationships with Operations, Engineering and other internal customers.
• Close liaison with other water quality monitoring teams (such as catchment, groundwater and regulatory response etc).
• Identity developments/optimisations that may improve asset performance or the business and suggest initiatives to the team and/or line manager.
• Providing regular water quality reports and data to operational teams to Support decision-making and project schemes.

What you should bring to the role

• Essential HNC or Degree (or equivalent) in a Scientific or Engineering discipline.
• Problem Solving is a crucial part of this role and any previous experience in this area would be very beneficial.
• Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are also key to this role as You will be liaising with internal stakeholders within Thames Water daily.
• The ability to work logically and analytically and be able to maintain a positive and professional approach is also essential.
• Travel to other sites is required as a major part of this role thus a full UK driving licence is essential.
• Desirable Ideally have experience in water treatment processes, supply or regulation.
