Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Process Controller to join Maple Lodge Sewage Treatment Works on a permanent basis. You will operate the plant via SCADA, monitor performance, and respond to events to keep processes under control.

Out of hours you are the responsible person on site, directing Process Technicians to ensure services are delivered in accordance with standards. Training is provided for health and safety and process requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be a team player.
• SCADA experience required.
• Wastewater process experience and ability to coordinate & prioritise work.
• Technical discipline qualification is advantageous (M, E or ICA) with City & Guilds/ONC/OND/HNC/HND or equivalent.
• Able to work unsupervised on 12-hour shifts days and nights.
• Full UK Driving Licence required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation of the Sewage Treatment Works and outstations.
• Monitor, collate and report data to ensure regulatory standards are met.
• Process faults and advise rectification by first fix; raise issues to Site Management.
• Carry out isolations and issue permits to work as part of safe procedures.
• Support on-site capital projects and coordinate maintenance and reactive work.
• Monitor stock levels and arrange deliveries as needed.
• Perform safety and security checks and uphold health and safety of all.
• Operate SCADA from the Control room and inspect process areas when required.
• Undergo safety training including confined space entry.

Job description

We are looking for a Process Controller to join Thames Water on a permanent basis.

Working as part of a team of process controllers you will be responsible for the effective running of Maple Lodge Sewage Treatment Works 24 hours a day. This is done using SCADA and responding to specific situations to ensure the relevant processes are brought under control or escalated to an event. Out of hours you will be the responsible person on site and will direct the Process Technicians to ensure that services are delivered in accordance to standards.

Every working day is different at Maple Lodge, which provides a very interesting, challenging and rewarding working environment. You will be at one of the biggest sewage treatment works on the Thames Water Estate and will receive full training and support for the Health & Safety, technical and process requirements related to the plant.

What you will be doing as a Process Controller

• Being responsible for the overall operation of the Sewage Treatment Works and associated outstations for the plant and equipment.
• Monitoring, collating and reporting data in order to ensure that statutory and regulatory compliance is met and the site meets regulatory quality standards and customer demand.
• Processing faults and advise suitable rectification by first fix, raising issues to the Site Management Team.
• Carrying out isolations to plant and issuing Permits to work as part of a safe system of work
• Assisting with on-site capital project works, co-ordinate maintenance and operational personnel raising reactive work when required.
• Monitoring stock levels and request and take deliveries as required.
• Undertaking safety and security checks and taking responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues.
• Operate and monitor the processes from the Control room using SCADA, and where necessary, go into the process area to carry out operations and when required, inspect the process area’s.
• Undergo training in safety procedures including confined space entry.

What skills are required for this role?

• Must be a team player.
• SCADA experience.
• Wastewater process experience and the ability to coordinate & prioritise work.
• Qualification in a technical discipline M, E or ICA would be advantageous (with Technical City and Guilds, ONC/OND, HNC/HND or equivalent)
• You must be able to work unsupervised on 12-hour shifts days and nights.
• Fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
