Process Safety Engineer Position Overview
- Work closely with process chemicals and control engineers to ensure the production plant is optimized for maximum output and efficiency.
- Design plant and equipment configurations adaptable to various products and technologies, considering environmental and economic factors.
- Design, install, and commission new machinery, including monitoring development and troubleshooting.
- Address safety issues related to operations, environment, process, and product throughout all project stages.
- Organize and lead hazard studies such as HAZOPs, SIL/LOPA, HAZIDs.
- Coordinate the preparation of major hazard risk assessments.
- Provide expertise in functional safety to the engineering department.
- Define safety bases related to chemicals and operational fire and explosion prevention.
Position Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of relevant chemical industry experience.
- Effective problem solver with experience leading cross-functional teams in problem-solving initiatives.
- Proficient in process safety and loss prevention techniques such as HAZOP, PHA.
- Skilled in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of H&S and Environmental Legislation.
- Understanding of manufacturing improvement strategies.
- Knowledge of COMAH, DSEAR, ATEX, and related legislations.
- Located within commuting distance of Wigan.
Remuneration and Working Hours
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
- 33 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays.
