Job summary

Probe UK is seeking an experienced CNC Process Engineer / Setter-Programmer to join our Birmingham-based team. This hands-on role combines CNC setting and programming with process engineering, tooling optimization and continuous improvement, supporting production and new product introductions.

With full order books and a friendly, committed team, you'll work on FANUC and Mazatronic controls, aiming to reduce cycle times and improve quality in a clean, stable environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as CNC setter/programmer with FANUC and Mazatronic controls.
• Strong background in CNC machining and tooling optimisation.
• Hands-on, analytical and continuous-improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Set and program CNC machines using FANUC and Mazatronic controls
• Develop, modify and optimise CNC machining programmes
• Improve cycle times, tooling, quality and machining processes
• Apply production/industrial engineering principles to machining methods
• Support the introduction of new products and processes
• Provide technical support to the wider machine shop

Duties

• Set and program CNC machines using FANUC and Mazak/Mazatronic controls
• Develop, modify and optimise CNC machining programmes
• Improve cycle times, tooling, quality and machining processes
• Apply production/industrial engineering principles to machining methods
• Support the introduction of new products and processes
• Provide technical support to the wider machine shop
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and process efficiency

Requirements

• Strong background in CNC machining
• Proven experience as a CNC Setter/Programmer
• Confident programming on FANUC and Mazatronic controls
• Strong CNC setting experience across a range of equipment
• Good understanding of machining methods, tooling and process optimisation
• Ideally, a background in Process Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Work Study
• A methodical, analytical and continuous-improvement mindset
• Someone who enjoys being hands-on and getting into the detail
