Foundry experience is advantageous and the position emphasizes lean practices and structured problem solving. You will drive process improvements across the foundry area, ensure production capability and quality standards, and support CAPEX

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a process control environment within manufacturing or engineering.
  • Foundry experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing improvement techniques including PFMEA, 8D, OEE, and Lean Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured reviews of manufacturing process effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve PFMEA documentation and process controls.
  • Support R&D and introduction of new manufacturing processes.
  • Lead process improvement projects to reduce scrap, rework, waste and costs.
  • Act as technical contact for process engineering issues across departments.
  • Lead problem-solving activities using 8D and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to reduce defects and improve product quality.
  • Ensure customer technical requirements and manufacturing standards are met.
  • Support plant equipment improvement activities including major CAPEX projects.
  • Promote lean principles and best practices across the site.
  • Monitor and improve process capability through effective control measures.
  • Collaborate with wider engineering teams on continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

Yolk Recruitment are supporting a leading engineering manufacturer with the recruitment of a Process Engineer to join their team in Chard. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Process Engineer with a background in manufacturing, process optimisation and continuous improvement to take ownership of production processes, improve efficiency, reduce waste, and support the delivery of high-quality products within a technically advanced engineering environment. Foundry experience would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will play a key role in improving manufacturing performance, reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and ensuring processes consistently meet customer and quality requirements.

As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for controlling and improving manufacturing processes across the foundry area, ensuring production capability, quality standards, and output targets are achieved.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct structured reviews of manufacturing process effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve local PFMEA documentation and process controls.
  • Support the research, development, and introduction of new manufacturing processes.
  • Lead process improvement projects focused on reducing scrap, rework, waste, and manufacturing costs.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for process engineering issues across internal departments.
  • Lead problem-solving activities using structured techniques such as 8D and root cause analysis.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to reduce defects and improve product quality.
  • Ensure customer technical requirements and manufacturing standards are achieved.
  • Support plant equipment improvement activities, including major CAPEX projects.

This is what you'll need:

  • Proven experience working within a process control environment within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Foundry experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing improvement techniques including PFMEA, 8D, OEE, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
