Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Process Engineer for a manufacturing site in Buxton to improve plant efficiencies, monitor key process parameters and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

You will conduct process studies, drive energy and fuel reduction, and support capital projects while acting as the site expert and liaising with central teams. Strong IChemE background and safety compliance knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

  • Proven process engineering experience, preferably in cement or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental management.
  • Familiarity with process control and statistical troubleshooting techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Track key process parameters to optimise plant performance.
  • Conduct process studies/audits and generate improvement reports.
  • Recommend modifications to control parameters and processes.
  • Schedule and complete process checks per objectives.
  • Identify power and fuel reduction opportunities and optimise consumption.
  • Provide input to capital projects and act as site process expert.
  • Maintain and improve Health, Safety and Environmental standards.

Job description

As a Process Engineer, you will be based at the Manufacturing and Production site based in Buxton. Your role will be to improve plant efficiencies and output, ensuring compliance with strict health and safety regulations.

A large industrial and materials manufacturing organisation based in Buxton, Derbyshire, operating on a nationally significant site. The business specialises in the extraction, processing, and supply of essential construction materials used across major infrastructure, commercial, and residential developments throughout the UK. With a strong focus on operational excellence, sustainability, health and safety, and continuous improvement, the organisation employs a diverse workforce spanning engineering, production, logistics, technical, and professional services functions. The site plays a key role in supporting the UK construction sector and is recognised for its long-standing presence in the region and contribution to the local economy.

Description

As the successful Process Engineer you will be responsible for tracking key process parameters used to optimise performance as well as processing data, regularly monitoring the parameters relating to plant operation.

  • Conducting process studies/audits and generating reports as required to identify improvements and cost saving opportunities
  • Making recommendations for modifications on various control parameters and processes
  • Ensuring process checks are scheduled and completed as per departmental objectives
  • Identifying power reduction projects and continually improving and optimising the plant to reduce power
  • Optimising fuel consumption and prioritising the increased use of alternative fuels and alternative raw materials
  • Be the site "expert" in process related issues
  • Liaising with the Central Industrial Performance team regarding process issues
  • Maintaining and improving Health Safety and Environmental standards
  • Providing process engineering input to capital projects
Profile
  • IChemE associate (working towards or willing to attain chartered engineering status)
  • Experience in Safety and Environmental laws and regulations with high safety standards and a wide knowledge of Health and Safety management techniques
  • Proven experience in process engineering (preferably the cement industry) or other relevant industry
  • General knowledge in physics, chemistry, thermodynamics and IT.
  • Good knowledge of process control methods and statistical methods for troubleshooting.
Job Offer
  • Salary ranging from £42,300 to £51,700, dependent on the level of experience.
  • Up to 13% overall pension contribution.
