Job summary

Probe UK in Fradley (Staffordshire) is seeking a Process Engineer to join the Manufacturing Engineering team. You will drive improvements across processes, tooling, quality, cost and efficiency with hands-on problem solving.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification required; Master’s desirable.
  • 2–3 years of engineering/manufacturing experience.
  • Experience of process improvement and project management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, including MS Office and Lean Manufacturing tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise manufacturing processes.
  • Drive process improvements, productivity gains and cost-saving projects.
  • Develop tooling and technical strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Work closely with tool suppliers, production and engineering teams.
  • Set up and optimise tooling to achieve minimum cycle times and maximum quality.
  • Support engineering changes and PFMEA documentation.
  • Work cross-functionally with Quality, Maintenance and Manufacturing.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement activities including TPM, HOSHIN, SMED and QRCI.
  • Develop standard operations and support technical training and skills development.
  • Coordinate technical teams to identify and deliver improvement opportunities.

We are looking for a Process Engineer to join the Manufacturing Engineering team and drive improvements across processes, tooling, quality, cost and efficiency. This is a hands‑on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and seeing their ideas put into practice.

Commutable from Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Rugeley, Lichfield, Tamworth, Walsall, Aldridge, Cannock, Barton Under Needwood, Atherton, Minworth and Great Barr

Duties
  • You’ll play a key part in developing and optimising manufacturing processes,
  • Driving process improvements, productivity gains and cost‑saving projects
  • Developing tooling and technical strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Working closely with tool suppliers, production and engineering teams
  • Setting up and optimising tooling to achieve minimum cycle times and maximum quality
  • Supporting engineering changes and updating PFMEA documentation

What We’re Looking For
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline (Master’s desirable)
  • Previous engineering/manufacturing experience, ideally 2-3 years within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of process improvement and project management
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills
  • Good IT skills, including MS Office and Lean Manufacturing tools
