Job summary

American Society of Civil Engineers is seeking a Process Engineer for a 12‑month contract based in Birmingham with hybrid/remote options. You will drive process engineering activities across the full lifecycle from FEED through commissioning, delivering front-end studies, process design, and documentation while supporting safety reviews and multidisciplinary collaboration.

The role requires experience in industrial environments, HAZOP participation, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Experience across FEED/concept through commissioning.
• Experience supporting or participating in HAZOP studies.
• Experience producing process engineering documentation (PFDs, P&IDs).
• Knowledge of process safety principles and engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Support process engineering activities across the full project lifecycle.
• Deliver FEED/front-end studies and process design tasks.
• Produce process calculations and mass balances; compile technical docs.
• Support HAZOPs and other safety reviews.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Process Engineer - 12 Month Contract

Birmingham / Hybrid / Remote Working

Outside IR35 - £55 per hour

Are you a Process Engineer who enjoys working across the full project lifecycle?

Do you have experience taking projects from front-end studies through to commissioning?

Are you comfortable working in highly regulated industrial environments where safety and compliance are critical?

What will you be doing?

• Supporting process engineering activities across the full project lifecycle
• Delivering front-end engineering studies and process design activities
• Producing process calculations, mass balances and technical documentation
• Supporting HAZOPs and other process safety reviews
• Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Supporting commissioning and start-up activities when required
• Ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations
• Supporting process optimisation and continuous improvement activities

Where will you be doing it?

You'll be joining a well-established engineering business delivering complex projects within highly regulated industrial environments. Their teams work on technically demanding projects covering everything from early-stage studies through to full delivery and commissioning.

• Experience working as a Process Engineer within industrial or process environments
• Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle from FEED/concept through to commissioning
• Experience supporting or participating in HAZOP studies
• Experience producing process engineering documentation including PFDs and P&IDs
• Knowledge of process safety principles and engineering standards
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
