Job summary

Russell Taylor Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a 12-month contract in Birmingham with hybrid working. The role involves supporting the full project lifecycle from front-end studies to commissioning, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across industrial environments.

The ideal candidate will have experience in FEED/concept through commissioning, plus knowledge of piping, valves, pumps and related equipment, and strong stakeholder communication skills.

Qualifications

• Experience as Mechanical Engineer in industrial or process environments.
• Full lifecycle from FEED/concept to commissioning.
• Experience supporting or participating in HAZOP studies.
• Experience producing mechanical design documentation.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems, piping, valves and pumps.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical engineering activities across the full project lifecycle.
• Deliver front-end engineering studies and concept designs.
• Produce detailed mechanical design documentation.
• Support HAZOPs and safety reviews.
• Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Assist commissioning and on-site activities when required.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulations.

Mechanical Engineer - 12 Month Contract

Outside IR35 - £55 per hour

Do you have experience taking projects from front-end studies through to commissioning?

Are you comfortable working in highly regulated industrial environments where safety and compliance are critical?

What will you be doing?

• Supporting mechanical engineering activities across the full project lifecycle
• Delivering front-end engineering studies and concept designs
• Producing detailed mechanical design documentation
• Supporting HAZOPs and other safety reviews
• Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Supporting commissioning and on-site activities when required
• Ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations
• Supporting equipment specification, layout reviews and technical calculations

You’ll be joining a well-established engineering business delivering complex projects within highly regulated industrial environments. Their teams work on technically demanding projects covering everything from early-stage studies through to full delivery and commissioning.
