QED Legal LLP in Huddersfield is seeking an experienced Probate Specialist to join its Private Client team. You will manage a high-quality caseload of complex, high-value estates and provide expert advice through the entire administration process.

The role requires strong technical probate knowledge, ability to handle large cases independently, and excellent client service. Hybrid working and a comprehensive benefits package are offered.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full estate administration process from instruction through to distribution.
• Handle high-value and complex estates involving business interests, trusts and overseas assets.
• Prepare Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration.
• Advise executors, trustees and beneficiaries.
• Prepare inheritance tax returns and liaise with HMRC.
• Identify inheritance tax planning opportunities during administration.
• Prepare estate accounts and arrange distributions.
• Deal with contested estates and IPR 1975 claims where appropriate.
• Collaborate with accountants, financial advisers and other professionals.
• Build strong relationships with high-net-worth clients and referrers.
• Support growth and development of the Private Client team.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Probate Specialist to join a well-established and highly regarded Private Client team in Huddersfield.

This is an exciting opportunity for a probate professional with strong technical expertise to work on a high-quality caseload of complex, high-value and high-net-worth estates, providing expert advice and exceptional client service throughout the estate administration process.

The Role

You will manage a varied caseload of probate and estate administration matters from initial instruction through to final distribution, with particular exposure to complex and high-net-worth estates.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the full estate administration process from instruction through to distribution.
• Dealing with high-value and complex estates involving business interests, agricultural assets, trusts, investments and overseas assets.
• Preparing applications for Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration.
• Advising executors, trustees and beneficiaries.
• Preparing inheritance tax returns and dealing with HMRC.
• Identifying inheritance tax planning opportunities during estate administration.
• Preparing estate accounts and arranging distributions.
• Dealing with contested estates and Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claims where appropriate.
• Working closely with accountants, financial advisers, wealth managers, valuers and other professional advisers.
• Building strong relationships with high-net-worth clients and professional referrers.
• Supporting the continued growth and development of the Private Client team.

About You

You will have significant experience in probate and estate administration, ideally with a proven track record of managing complex and high-net-worth estates.

You should have:

• Strong technical knowledge of probate, estate administration, inheritance tax and trusts.
• Experience managing a caseload independently from instruction through to completion.
• Excellent client care and communication skills.
• The ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism, empathy and discretion.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• A proactive and commercially minded approach to client service.

You may be a Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive, STEP-qualified practitioner or an experienced probate professional with equivalent experience.
