Job summary

TEEM Recruitment Ltd. in Coventry is seeking a dependable School Caretaker / Site Manager to support the smooth day-to-day operation of a busy school. You will be responsible for upkeep, security, and safety on site, open/close premises, maintain records, supervise contractors, and assist with events.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, with split shifts; immediate start. We are looking for a practical, proactive candidate who can work independently and as part of the school team, ensuring

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a School Caretaker, Site Manager, Facilities Assistant, or in a similar maintenance/facilities role.
• Strong practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• A good understanding of health & safety requirements, including fire safety, Legionella awareness and asbestos awareness.
• The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A current Enhanced DBS.
• Availability to start immediately.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily upkeep, maintenance and security of the school site.
• Open and lock up the school premises as required.
• Maintain accurate records relating to maintenance, compliance, health & safety and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) checks.
• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance duties.
• Undertake basic DIY tasks; painting and decorating experience would be advantageous.
• Ensure the school premises remain clean, safe and fully operational.
• Liaise with contractors and oversee works carried out on site.
• Assist with setting up rooms and supporting site logistics for school events and activities.
• Support school compliance procedures, including asbestos awareness and site safety monitoring.
• Identify and report maintenance, health & safety and security issues promptly.
• Help ensure the school site is maintained to a high standard at all times.
• Respond proactively to issues that may affect the safety, security or smooth operation of the school.
