Job summary

Surbiton High School is seeking a reliable Caretaker to join our professional team across multiple school sites. You’ll support day-to-day maintenance, security, and events, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Qualifications

• Experience in a caretaking or maintenance role is desirable.
• Practical skills in general repairs and maintenance.
• A flexible, can-do attitude and a strong commitment to health and safety.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn First Aid and machinery training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the safety and security of pupils, staff and visitors across all school sites.
• Assisting with opening and closing procedures, responding to emergencies, and supporting fire safety practices.
• Carrying out minor repairs, general maintenance, and ensuring the school grounds are clean and well-presented.
• Helping with deliveries, setting up for school events, and liaising with contractors.
• Contributing to planned maintenance and refurbishment projects during school holidays.
