Job summary

Pear Tree High School, part of Prospere Learning Trust, is seeking a reliable Caretaker to join the site team. The role is Grade 3, permanent, 35 hours per week, all year round, with a starting salary of £26,427.

The successful candidate will ensure security, safety, cleanliness and maintenance of the school premises and grounds. Key duties include managing repairs, health and safety checks, supervising cleaners, liaising with contractors, and supporting school events and lettings.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in caretaker or similar role responsible for maintenance, cleaning and repair tasks.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety and hygiene regulations; COSHH understanding desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff, pupils, contractors, and visitors.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; physically capable of manual tasks.
• Good ICT, literacy and numeracy skills with accurate record keeping.

Responsibilities

• General repairs and site maintenance inside and outside the premises.
• Daily health and safety monitoring including fire safety checks.
• Security of the school site; act as a key holder and monitor CCTV where applicable.
• Liaison with contractors and ensure compliance with site regulations.
• Supervision of cleaning staff and external cleaners.
