Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking two Safer Communities Officers on a fixed term contract until March 2027. Based at County Hall, Morpeth, you will work proactively within local communities to address anti-social behaviour and safety concerns through prevention, engagement and enforcement.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a community safety, enforcement, housing, or public protection environment.
• Ability to communicate confidently with members of the public and partner agencies, including managing challenging situations.
• Good working knowledge of relevant legislation relating to anti-social behaviour, crime, or local authority enforcement.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to work flexibly on a weekly basis, including evenings and weekends where required.

Responsibilities

• Engage pro-actively within local communities to address anti-social behaviour and safety concerns through engagement and enforcement.
• Build strong partnerships with residents, councillors, police, housing providers and other agencies to deliver coordinated interventions.
• Carry out patrols, investigations, and gather evidence, taking appropriate action in line with policies and legislation.
• Provide a visible, reassuring presence within neighbourhoods and contribute to initiatives that improve public confidence and quality of life.
