Job summary

Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking Healthcare Support Workers to join our community-based teams across West Hertfordshire. You will deliver practical care, support independence, and travel to patient homes using a car where required.

We value clear communication, teamwork, and commitment to equality. A full UK driving licence and access to a car are desirable, with training including the Care Certificate for new staff. AI usage during recruitment is discouraged.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • GCSE General Education or equivalent in 5 subjects including Maths and English to a grade C or equivalent.
  • Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Diploma NVQ Care level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience.
Desirable criteria
  • All new Healthcare Support Workers across the NHS are required to complete the Care Certificate programme.
  • Willingness to undertake further training
Experience
Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with older people
  • Experience of care giving
  • Experience of working in a health or social care setting
  • Experience with Microsoft office, diary management using outlook or equivalent software.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in the community setting
  • Experience using electronic clinical records.
Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships and work as part of a multiprofessional team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proactive and innovative with a basic understanding of community health care services

  • Be willing to drive across West Hertfordshire, potentially in adverse weather conditions.
  • The applicant would need to be able to use a map and SAT NAV to navigate to patient's homes.

  • As this is a community-based role, with travel between patient homes, there is a requirement to hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
