Job summary

Chesterfield Borough Council is seeking caring and customer-focused individuals to join the Private Sector Housing Team. You will help deliver housing assistance and Disabled Facilities Grants to enable vulnerable residents to live independently at home.

As part of the team, you will assess needs, visit residents, work with contractors and partner agencies, and ensure projects are delivered to a high standard within timescales, whilst maintaining excellent service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enjoy working directly with customers and building positive relationships.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for business use.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Disabled Facilities Grant applications.
  • Undertake means-tested financial assessments.
  • Recommend grants and loans for approval.
  • Monitor works on site and authorise payments.
  • Support housing assistance programmes and energy efficiency improvements.
  • Visit residents to assess needs and identify solutions.
  • Work with contractors, occupational therapists and partners to meet standards and timescales.

Chesterfield Borough Council is looking for enthusiastic and customer-focused individuals to join our Private Sector Housing Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering housing assistance and Disabled Facilities Grants, helping vulnerable residents access the adaptations and improvements they need to maintain their independence.

  • managing Disabled Facilities Grant applications
  • undertaking means-tested financial assessments
  • recommending grants and loans for approval
  • monitoring works on site and authorising payments
  • supporting the delivery of housing assistance programmes, including essential home repairs and energy efficiency improvements
  • visiting residents in their homes to assess needs and identify suitable solutions
  • working collaboratively with contractors, occupational therapists and partner agencies to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard and within agreed timescales
