Job summary

Park Avenue is seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to support a Bedfordshire Local Authority’s Housing Standards service during a period of increased demand. The role emphasizes handling complex cases from inspection to enforcement, collaborating with landlords and residents to achieve real improvements.

You will investigate housing complaints, conduct HHSRS assessments, manage enforcement from start to resolution, and provide technical advice on statutory notices.

Qualifications

• Background within a Local Authority Private Sector Housing team.
• Strong working knowledge of HHSRS and housing enforcement legislation.
• Experience serving notices and progressing enforcement action.
• Excellent communication skills and a practical, solution-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Investigating housing complaints and potential breaches of housing legislation.
• Conducting HHSRS assessments and property inspections.
• Managing enforcement cases from initial complaint through to resolution.
• Drafting schedules of works and statutory notices.
• Working alongside legal teams on more complex enforcement matters.
• Providing technical advice to landlords, agents and residents.
