Job summary

Optimised Care is recruiting a bank consultant general surgeon to work at The Bromsgrove Hospital on a private, sessional basis. The role centers on specialist consultations, assessing patients, planning investigation and treatment, and performing surgery within agreed scope.

Sessions are booked around the consultant's commitments and service demand, suiting a surgeon who wants private practice alongside other clinical work.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise and inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in General Surgery.
• Indemnity covering private practice.
• Experience as a consultant able to practise independently within clinical scope.

Responsibilities

• Conduct specialist general surgical consultations and clinical assessments
• Diagnose and manage patients with general surgical conditions
• Develop investigation, diagnosis and treatment plans for individual patients
• Undertake surgical procedures within recognised speciality and agreed scope
• Explain diagnoses, treatment options, risks and expected outcomes to patients
• Obtain and document informed consent where appropriate
• Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical records
• Send clinical correspondence and communicate with GPs and referring professionals
• Arrange follow-up and ensure continuity of care
• Work with the multidisciplinary team to support efficient patient pathways
• Comply with clinical governance, infection prevention and patient safety standards
• Take part in audit, quality improvement and professional development as required
