Salary: £36,581 - £40,444 with the potential to progress to £47,665.
Bristol is a vibrant city, with a high number of privately owned and rented properties. We are currently delivering a number of area-based property licensing schemes, in addition to the city-wide mandatory licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation, as well as enforcing the new requirements of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025. If you enjoy a balance of office, home, and site-based work, this role offers the opportunity to inspect residential properties for compliance with licensing conditions, identify housing hazards and deficiencies, and prepare professional reports that help maintain legal housing standards. You may also have the chance to undertake investigations and support the progression of formal legal action when required. For permanent appointments, a competence-based grading system means that there may be opportunities for you to develop your career and progress to a Level 2 or Senior Environmental Health Housing Officer role, through the completion of assessed competencies. Further details can be provided at interview. There may also be opportunities to work in other areas of the Private Housing Service.
Bristol City Council are not offering sponsorship for this role.
