Job summary

MetLife Investment Management (MIM) in London seeks an Investment Associate for our Private Equity team. The role involves evaluating opportunities, performing due diligence, and supporting the investment process across global PE funds and co-investments.

You will work with a tight-knit 18-person team managing over $20 billion of assets, using advanced financial models and AI tools to draft, summarize, and organize information, while delivering high-quality memos for the investment committee.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of financial services experience.
• 1–2 years in due diligence, selection, monitoring and management of private equity investments and/or direct equity underwriting.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills with ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Proactive, detail-oriented with focus on performance and results.
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of AI capabilities with guidance.

Responsibilities

MIM seeks an Investment Associate to join our Private Equity team. The Investment Associate position is a unique opportunity to work directly with a 18-person team managing over $20 billion of assets on behalf of MetLife’s general account as well as affiliated and unaffiliated investors. MetLife’s Private Equity team portfolio has a two-fold mandate: (i) primary fund commitments across global private equity (buyout, venture, special situations, etc.) and, (ii) equity co-investments alongside private equity sponsors.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and evaluate investment opportunities, conduct due diligence, and support the investment team in making informed decisions.
• Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of potential investment opportunities in private equity funds.
• Perform equity underwriting and risk assessment for investment proposals.
• Assist in the preparation of investment memos and presentations for the investment committee.
• Monitor and track the performance of existing investments and provide regular updates to the investment team.
• Assist in sourcing and tracking new opportunities with external private equity sponsors.
• Conduct market research and stay updated on industry trends and developments.
• Collaborate with other team members to support the overall investment process.
• Maintain and update financial models and databases.
• Ability to use approved AI tools to support routine tasks such as drafting, summarizing, organizing information, and improving day-to-day efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• 3 to 4 years of Financial Services Experience.
• Minimum of 1-2years of experience in due diligence, selection, monitoring and management of private equity fund investments and/or direct equity underwriting.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
• Proactive, detail-oriented individual with keen focus on performance and results.
• Excellent written and oral communication, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of AI capabilities with the ability to evaluate and validate outputs with guidance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or similar analytical/quantitative field; MBA, CAIA and/or CFA is highly desirable.
