Job Description
What will you be doing?

As a Manager, you will be part of the private client tax team working on tax advisory and tax compliance services for a diverse range of clients. You will manage your own portfolio and assist other team members.

Due to recent growth, we are looking for candidates based in Manchester, Leeds, or Harrogate, with a requirement to work in the office three times a week for collaboration.

Responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing tax returns, managing HMRC enquiries, overseeing compliance clients, monitoring time limits and elections (e.g., managing Taxpoint), reviewing HMRC correspondence, contributing to planning and advisory projects, assisting Partners with complex projects, participating in client meetings, managing billing and budgets, delegating tasks, reviewing work from trainees and seniors, maintaining technical knowledge, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Participating in training and development, coaching trainees and seniors, appraising team members, and presenting at technical training sessions.
  • Supporting colleagues and partners with chargeable and non-chargeable work as needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with deadlines and procedures, and handling departmental administrative tasks.
Qualifications

To succeed, you should have:

  • Significant private client tax experience within professional services or industry.
  • Technical capability to assist with complex client work.
  • Experience in managing people.
  • Desire to develop business development skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
Professional Qualifications and Education
  • Relevant professional qualifications (CTA and/or ACA).
Key Competencies
  • Ability to plan workload, prioritize, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent written communication skills for drafting correspondence and explaining technical issues clearly.
  • Good interpersonal skills for liaising with clients and team members.
  • Ability to supervise staff and support Partners.
  • Maintain technical knowledge, identify issues, and provide solutions.
