Job summary

Clark Wood Limited in Bristol is looking for a Personal Tax Assistant Manager to join its established private client tax team, taking ownership of a diverse client portfolio and working with high-quality private clients in a supportive, technically strong environment.

You will work closely with managers and partners to deliver personal tax services, review returns and complex computations, handle HMRC enquiries, and help with residency, domicile and wealth planning.

Qualifications

• ATT and/or CTA qualified or actively studying towards CTA
• Strong experience in personal/private client tax within a professional services environment
• Experience dealing with HNW individuals, trusts, and complex personal tax matters
• Confident reviewer with excellent attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proactive, organised, and motivated to progress to Manager level

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, including HNW individuals, non-domiciled clients, trusts and family groups
• Review personal tax returns and complex tax computations
• Act as primary point of contact for clients, providing clear and practical tax advice
• Support advisory work across residency and domicile, inheritance tax planning, trusts, and wealth structuring
• Handle HMRC enquiries and correspondence
• Ensure compliance work is delivered accurately and in line with risk procedures
• Review and support the work of junior team members
• Build strong, long-term client relationships and identify advisory opportunities
