About the role

Our client, a law firm, is looking for a Private Client Solicitor to join their team in Stockport on a locum basis. The role involves managing a private client caseload and supporting the team with a steady flow of client work.

You will handle matters from instruction through to completion, advising clients on wills, estates and related planning. The position suits a solicitor who is comfortable running their own files and who can take on a live caseload with minimal supervision.

Main responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of private client matters, including wills, probate and estate administration
• Advise clients on succession planning, trusts and powers of attorney
• Prepare wills, lasting powers of attorney and related documents
• Handle the administration of estates, including grants of probate and letters of administration
• Prepare estate accounts and deal with beneficiaries, executors and third parties
• Maintain accurate file notes, deadlines and case records in line with firm procedures
• Keep clients informed and handle sensitive conversations with clarity and care
• Comply with regulatory, compliance and file management requirements

Requirements

• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with a current practising certificate
• Relevant experience handling private client work
• Sound knowledge of wills, probate, estate administration and powers of attorney
