Private Client Lawyer - Care & Capacity - Torquay - 3+ Years PQE
Location: Torquay
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £50,000 to £75,000 (depending on experience)

A well established and progressive law firm is seeking an experienced and motivated Private Client Lawyer to join its Care and Capacity Team in Torquay. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable clients and making a meaningful impact through high quality legal advice and representation.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for handling a varied and rewarding caseload, including:

  • Advising clients and families on all aspects of mental capacity law
  • Preparing and advising on Lasting Powers of Attorney and Deputyship applications
  • Representing clients in Court of Protection proceedings
  • Managing complex matters involving health and welfare decisions, financial issues, and safeguarding concerns
  • Working collaboratively with healthcare professionals, social services, and other agencies
  • Drafting legal documents and providing clear, practical advice
  • Keeping up to date with relevant legislation, case law, and best practice
Candidate Requirements

This role is suited to a lawyer with:

  • Qualification as a Solicitor or Legal Executive
  • Experience in private client work, particularly care and capacity matters
  • Strong understanding of Court of Protection processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to support vulnerable clients
