Job summary

The Ministry of Justice is recruiting an instructor to work with prisoners, delivering BICS training and supporting learning in custody. You will build effective relationships, promote safety, and help prisoners progress towards industry qualifications while maintaining high standards of conduct.

You will induct learners, supervise workshop activities, assess NVQ levels 1 and 2, maintain records, and contribute to sentence planning and resettlement where possible.

Qualifications

• Experience in training prisoners in custodial settings.
• Knowledge of Safer Custody guidelines and security procedures.
• Ability to work to awarding body requirements and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Deliver BICS training to prisoners to cover establishment's needs and aspirations in working towards industry recognised accreditations.
• Induct prisoners to the workshop/area of work and train them in Health and Safety, COSHH, machinery and tools usage.
• Assess and evaluate skills including NVQ levels 1 and 2 and other relevant qualifications.
• Maintain and update learner records including their Individual Learning Plan.
• Maintain awarding body quality standards and contribute towards internal and external verification as required.
