Job summary

HMP Isle of Wight is seeking an Operational Support Grade to help run a busy prison, performing a mix of desk duties and physical tasks. You will participate in security checks, deliveries, and visitor supervision, with driving duties an essential part of the role.

Applicants do not need formal qualifications, but must be a good communicator who remains calm under pressure and can work effectively in a team. Shifts include weekends and nights to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications required.
• Good communication and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day prison operations across multiple areas.
• Assist with security checks at the gate and deliveries.
• Supervise visitors and monitor phone calls and CCTV.
• Carry out desk duties and assist with lifting and movement tasks; drive vehicles around the grounds.
