Job summary

Aspire Recruitment is recruiting a Prisoner Trainer/Mentor to work at HMP Humber with travel to HMP Hull. You will deliver a six-week structured course to groups and provide one-to-one support to participants preparing for release. The role supports rehabilitation and aims to reduce reoffending.

You will collaborate with prison staff, facilitators and peer mentors, manage a caseload, maintain records, and follow safeguarding policies. DBS checks are required.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering structured sessions in group settings.
• Strong communication and the ability to motivate participants.
• Understanding safeguarding principles (training provided).
• Confident using IT systems to manage participant data.
• Experience supporting offenders or marginalised groups within justice or counselling settings.
• Able to work towards targets and performance expectations.
• Awareness of barriers faced by individuals in custody and rehabilitation challenges.
• Familiarity with prison environments and safeguarding considerations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging group sessions on topics including goal setting, social interaction, coping with change, and healthy relationships.
• Complete initial assessments, enrol participants, and create tailored action plans.
• Provide one-to-one guidance to review goals and offer ongoing support.
• Build positive, non-judgemental relationships to foster a safe and supportive environment.
• Manage a caseload, balancing group delivery with individual support and administration.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date records using internal IT systems.
• Monitor progress and set clear objectives to support rehabilitation.
• Follow Health & Safety policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.
