Job summary

Aspire Recruitment is seeking a Prisoner Trainer/Mentor for HMP New Hall with some travel across the region. The role delivers a structured six-week course to groups and provides one-to-one support to participants in custody, helping prepare for release and reduce reoffending.

You will work with prison staff, facilitators and peer mentors to monitor progress, maintain records, and follow safeguarding policies.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering structured group sessions and adapting to diverse needs.
• Strong communication skills to build trust and motivate participants.
• Understanding of safeguarding principles (training provided).
• Confident using IT systems to manage participant data.
• Experience supporting offenders or marginalised groups in justice, training, or counselling.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging group sessions on goals, social skills, coping with change, and healthy relationships.
• Complete initial assessments, enrol participants, and create tailored action plans.
• Provide one-to-one guidance to review goals and maintain ongoing support.
• Maintain accurate records and monitor progress using internal IT systems.
• Balance caseloads by delivering group work while providing individual support.
• Follow Health & Safety policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.
