Job summary

Aspire Recruitment is seeking a Prisoner Trainer/Mentor for HMP New Hall with regional travel. You will deliver a structured six-week course to groups in custody and provide tailored one-to-one support to help prepare for release and reduce reoffending.

The role requires DBS and enhanced security checks; you will work with prison staff, facilitators and peer mentors, managing a caseload and maintaining records using IT systems.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering structured sessions in group settings.
• Ability to build trust and motivate participants.
• Familiarity with safeguarding principles (training provided).
• Confident using IT systems to manage participant data.
• Experience supporting offenders or marginalised groups within justice, training, or counselling settings.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging group sessions on topics including goal setting, social interaction, coping with change, and healthy relationships.
• Complete initial assessments, enrol participants, and create tailored action plans.
• Provide one-to-one guidance to review goals and offer ongoing support.
• Build positive, non-judgemental relationships to foster a safe and supportive environment.
• Manage a caseload, balancing group delivery with individual support and administration.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date records using internal IT systems.
• Monitor progress and set clear objectives to support rehabilitation.
• Follow Health & Safety policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.
