Job summary

Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking a Principal Technician Environment in Dumfries to support waste, recycling and disposal services across the region. This role sits in Band 9 with a salary of £40,470 to £43,437 per year.

Help shape a more sustainable future and support the delivery of modern waste and environmental services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Principal Technician Environment to support the development, delivery and improvement of waste, recycling and disposal services across Dumfries and Galloway.

As a key member of the team, you will help develop waste strategies, manage contracts and procurement activities, analyse service performance data, and ensure compliance with environmental legislation. You will also support projects that improve services, increase efficiency and contribute to the Council's sustainability ambitions.

Working with colleagues, contractors and external partners, you will play an important role in delivering service improvements, monitoring performance, developing benchmarking information and supporting public engagement and education initiatives.

We are looking for someone with experience in waste management, environmental services, project delivery or a related technical field. You should have strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and translate complex information into practical solutions.
