Job Description:

Hydrock is recruiting for a Principal Sustainability Consultant to join our influential Smart Energy and Sustainability team. You will be part of our collaborative and expanding team across the UK, helping develop and deliver a pipeline of complex projects.

Our clients range from local authorities to universities, masterplan developers to asset managers. We are proud to shape approaches to decarbonisation and climate resilience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with client teams to identify sustainable design measures, energy, and carbon reduction initiatives, including hosting workshops and meetings.
  • Identifying key decision-makers to influence and drive value.
  • Preparing high-quality reports on energy, sustainability, and climate change to advise clients and support planning.
  • Managing data effectively, including maintaining project databases and calculations.
  • Participating in external forums to advance environmental performance measurement.
  • Training junior team members and supporting project management.
  • Engaging in regional business development and sales activities.
  • Developing expertise in environmental modelling, building physics, and related areas.

Qualifications and experience needed:

  • A relevant degree such as BEng (Hons), BSc (Hons), or equivalent.
  • Experience as a consultant with project delivery, client engagement, and management skills.
  • Understanding of building environmental design and sustainability.
  • Proven experience in environmental modelling, physics, and sustainability assessments.
  • Experience with planning reports and GLA policies.
  • Proficiency in IES modelling tools; knowledge of HVAC modelling is a plus.
  • Experience with master planning and diverse asset classes.
  • Existing client relationships with developers, consultants, architects, and property companies.

Additional attributes that are advantageous:

  • Chartership or membership in relevant institutions (e.g., RITP, RIBA, EI, IEMA).
  • Familiarity with climate risk assessments, biodiversity, and renewables sectors.
