Job summary

Progressive Recruitment is seeking a Principal Design Engineer in Glasgow to lead a skilled team on HV/EHV substation projects, covering design through to as-built, with emphasis on tender engineering and interfaces.

You will act as technical lead for AIS/GIS substations, manage interfaces with civil, protection and control systems, and coordinate activities with internal and external partners while supporting budgets and schedules. Hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience in transmission substation engineering, with focus on detailed design, tender process and site support.
• Knowledge of SSEN & SPEN requirements and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead all engineering activities from early project engagement through to As-Built with QA/QC & HSSE adherence.
• Technical lead on large EHV/HV AIS & GIS substation projects in UK.
• Coordinate and supervise engineering teams and interfaces with partners, suppliers and civil engineers.
• Provide information for civil designs and interface coordination between construction planning and equipment suppliers.
• Lead technical discussions with customers and suppliers and address site queries up to as-built documentation.
• Manage budgets, schedules, forecasts, risk & change management; support PM/Contracting/Operation teams.
