Job summary

Real Staffing Group in Glasgow seeks a Principal Design Engineer to lead a team on HV/EHV substation design and construction projects, focusing on project and tender engineering and ensuring interfaces meet customer needs and standards.

You will supervise engineering activities, coordinate with civil, protection and control teams, and drive technical solutions, budgets, schedules and change management, with occasional site visits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or master's in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience in transmission substation engineering and tender processes.
• Knowledge of SSEN & SPEN requirements and standards.
• Fluency in English, written and spoken.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering activities from early engagement to as-built.
• Technical lead for AIS/GIS substation projects in UK.
• Coordinate internal and external teams and interfaces.
• Develop technical concepts, specs and BOMs for projects.
• Manage budgets, schedules, risks and changes.
• Support bid/tender schemes and site queries.
