Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer in St Helens to take technical and managerial responsibility for a range of structural projects from concept to completion. You will lead project teams, manage client relationships, and contribute to the growth of the St Helens office.

The role demands Chartered status with IStructE or ICE, a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, and proven UK consultancy experience, with strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered (CEng) with IStructE or ICE.
• Extensive UK consultancy experience.
• Strong leadership and project management skills.
• Excellent client communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of structures in steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and masonry.
• Oversee technical delivery and quality assurance.
• Manage project programmes, budgets, and resources.
• Mentor engineers and technicians.
• Support business development and tender submissions.
• Contribute to the strategic growth of the St Helens office.
