Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead design and project delivery from concept through to completion in the St Helens office. The role combines technical leadership with client relationship management across residential, commercial, industrial and public sector projects in the North West.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• Chartered (CEng) with IStructE or ICE mandatory.
• Extensive UK consultancy experience required.
• Strong leadership and project management capabilities required.
• Proven track record of managing projects and teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of structures in steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and masonry.
• Oversee technical delivery and quality assurance across projects.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and resources.
• Act as primary point of contact for key clients.
• Mentor and develop engineers and technicians.
• Support business development and tender submissions.
• Contribute to the strategic growth of the office.
