Job summary

BakerHicks in London is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead technically challenging projects, mentor engineers and influence delivery across Aviation, Defence, Industrial, Custodial and Power sectors.

You will shape solutions, support the development of others and grow the structural capability within the business, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients in a hybrid-working environment.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status (CEng MIStructE and/or MICE).
• Experience leading structural design delivery within consultancy environments.
• Excellent understanding of UK structural design standards and assurance processes.
• Experience delivering projects involving steel, concrete, masonry and foundation design.
• Ability to lead teams while remaining technically hands-on when needed.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial awareness and experience managing project budgets and change control.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design delivery across major projects and complex programmes of work.
• Manage and support structural engineering teams across multiple project stages.
• Act as a senior technical reviewer and provide guidance across structural design activities.
• Deliver practical, buildable and technically robust engineering solutions.
• Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary design teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Support project planning, fee proposals, resourcing and programme management.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to the growth and development of the wider team.
• Drive high standards in technical quality, safety and project delivery.
