Evan Craig is recruiting a Principal Structural Engineer for a leading multidisciplinary consultancy based in Birmingham. You will lead the Structures team, delivering high-quality structural designs on a variety of schemes, balancing independent work with resource management and client liaison.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, mentorship, and adherence to CDM and safety standards, with hybrid working arrangements and strong development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified Chartered Engineer (or equivalent background, typically 8+ years).
• Proven ability to run projects and lead teams.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.
• Supervise and review work of design staff, providing mentorship and training.
• Lead and check structural design work across a range of projects.
• Manage and coordinate with clients, contractors, and other disciplines.
• Contribute to setting and maintaining technical standards and best practice.
• Support project management, including resource planning, budgets, and fee control.
• Encourage team collaboration, professional development, and compliance with IMS and health & safety standards.
