CB&I Asset Solutions seeks a Principal Structural Designer Contractor for a 6-month assignment based in Aberdeen, UK. The role focuses on delivering robust structural design for energy sector projects, both offshore and onshore, ensuring compliance with project controls and safety standards.

The candidate will check drawings, support estimates, and coordinate with discipline teams, clients, and subcontractors to drive timely and compliant delivery.

Qualifications

• Oil & gas or petrochemical industry experience preferred.
• Ability to investigate and interpret data.
• Willing to travel offshore and to site locations.
• Experience in structural design for energy sector projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise for the structural design of new infrastructure and modifications for the energy sector.
• Provide technical information to support estimates for project work scopes.
• Provide input to progress and planning meetings as required.
• Provide technical assurance and oversight on structural design scope.
• Coordinate structural design resources in line with project requirements.
• Conduct site surveys offshore or onshore assets.
• Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews / HAZIDS.
• Interface with other disciplines, clients and third parties on project issues.

Job description

CB&I are seeking a Principal Structural Designer Contractor for 6 months based in Aberdeen, UK.

The scope of services will be reviewed should there be a significant change to client support requirements.

Scope of Services:

• Provide technical expertise for the structural design of new infrastructure and modifications to existing infrastructure for the energy sector.
• Provide technical information to support estimates for project work scopes
• Provide input to progress and planning meetings as required
• Provide technical expertise to the resolution of technical queries ensuring that all design changes are captured by the change control process
• Conduct site surveys on offshore or onshore assets
• Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews / HAZIDS
• Provide checking and approval of structural drawings, complete interdisciplinary checking of documents where necessary.
• Interface with other disciplines, clients and third parties on technical project issues
• Provide a level of technical support that satisfies the appropriate Asset Safety Case and that the PFEER performance standards ensuring they are not compromised by any discipline engineering activities
• Compliance with company engineering procedures, industry, international and client codes and standards
• Ensure that all work complies with the Contract Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures as appropriate

• Computer literate in Microsoft office applications and relevant discipline specific software

• Experience within the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical Industry will be preferable but not essential
• Suitable design experience within other engineering industries will be considered where appropriate
