Optimus Plus invites applications for a Principal Structural Designer to join our team on a full-time, ongoing contract basis. The role supports offshore oil and gas projects across the North Sea, with hybrid working options allowing 2 days remote work from Aberdeen or Glasgow.

The successful candidate will bring offshore experience, leadership, and detailed design capability to deliver safe, fit-for-purpose solutions while mentoring others within a pragmatic engineering environment.

Qualifications

• HND in a relevant subject and experience in detail design and design checking.
• Highly competent in AutoDesk design products.

Responsibilities

• Aids the project in creating schedules, time assignment and resource allocation.
• Responsible for ensuring designs meet project requirements.
• Input to project plans.
• Identify areas of concern during any project or study.
• Produce cost-effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value.
• Ability to address operational and maintenance issues in the design and liaise with colleagues for the best solution.
• Undertake surveys, both onshore and offshore (not essential)

We have an exciting opportunity working within both new and existing projects, creating bespoke, safe and cost-effective engineering solutions for our clients within the energy sector.

Optimus Plus are now looking for an experienced Principal Structural Designer to join our team on a full-time, on-going contract basis. This role can be based in our Aberdeen or Glasgow on a flexible hybrid working model where 2 days per week can be worked remotely.

We are seeking candidate that have significant previous experience in the offshore oil and gas energy sector, ideally with knowledge of the North sea assets and brownfield oil and gas projects. Experience of concept and detailed design is essential.

There will be the opportunity to work in other locations, both on and offshore so candidates may need you to travel and hold the relevant certification to do so.
