Optimus is seeking a Principal Structural Designer on a full-time, ongoing contract basis in the UK. The role offers a flexible hybrid model with 2 days remote, based in Aberdeen or Glasgow. You should have strong offshore oil and gas experience, detailed design expertise, and be proficient in Autodesk design products.

Travel to onshore/offshore sites may be required. The team values practical engineering, safe solutions, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, with opportunities to mentor others

About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity working within both new and existing projects, creating bespoke, safe and cost-effective engineering solutions for our clients within the energy sector.

Optimus Plus are now looking for an experienced Principal Structural Designer to join our team on a full-time, on-going contract basis. This role can be based in our Aberdeen or Glasgow on a flexible hybrid working model where 2 days per week can be worked remotely.

We are seeking candidate that have significant previous experience in the offshore oil and gas energy sector, ideally with knowledge of the North sea assets and brownfield oil and gas projects. Experience of concept and detailed design is essential.

Key duties:

• Aids the project in creating schedules, time assignment and resource allocation
• Responsible for ensuring designs meet project requirements
• Input to project plans
• Identify areas of concern during any project or study
• Produce cost- effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value
• Ability to address operational and maintenance issues in the design and liaise with colleagues for the best solution
• Undertake surveys, both onshore and offshore (not essential)

About You

We’d like you to have a HND in a relevant subject and previous experience in detail design and design checking with an understanding of other disciplines. You need to be highly competent in the use of AutoDesk design products. There will be the opportunity to work in other locations, both on and offshore so candidates may need to travel and hold the relevant certification to do so.
