Job summary

DATS Recruitment Ltd seeks an experienced Structural Draughtsperson to join a specialist engineering organisation delivering offshore oil & gas projects. You will produce high-quality drawings and 3D models using Autodesk Inventor, supporting multidisciplinary teams through the project lifecycle.

The role is a 6-month initial contract (outside IR35) with potential extension. Hybrid working with 2 days per week in Central London and remaining days remote. Full-time hours for a contractor role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a Structural Draughting or Structural Design role.
• Proficient with Autodesk Inventor.
• Experience in offshore oil and gas, marine, energy, offshore renewables or heavy engineering.
• Ability to interpret engineering calculations and technical specifications.
• Experience producing detailed fabrication and manufacturing drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed structural fabrication and assembly drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Develop and maintain 3D models for offshore structures and related equipment.
• Generate manufacturing, GA and detailed structural drawings.
• Work with structural engineers to ensure designs meet project requirements.
• Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, specifications and client requirements.
• Support design reviews and incorporate engineering comments and design changes.
• Manage and maintain drawing records throughout project delivery.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a contractor looking to work on technically challenging structural design projects within a highly regarded engineering environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in producing high-quality structural drawings and models using Autodesk Inventor, supporting engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.

This is an initial 6-month contract with strong potential for extension. The position operates outside IR35, making it suitable for Limited Company contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed structural fabrication and assembly drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Develop and maintain 3D models for offshore oil and gas structures and related equipment.
• Generate manufacturing drawings, GA drawings and detailed structural documentation.
• Work closely with structural engineers and project teams to ensure designs meet project requirements.
• Ensure drawings comply with relevant industry standards, specifications and client requirements.
• Support design reviews and incorporate engineering comments and design changes as required.
• Manage and maintain drawing records and documentation throughout project delivery.
