Job summary

Matchtech are currently supporting a leading organisation within the UK defence and maritime engineering sector in the recruitment of a Principal Mechanical Engineer (Propulsor) on a long-term contract. This role is to design, manufacture, install and refurbish complex submarine propulsor systems, working with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver technically challenging defence programmes.

Qualifications

• Strong Mechanical Engineering background in a complex environment.
• Experience with large, high-value assemblies.
• Knowledge of metallic and composite materials.
• Understanding of machining processes and tolerancing.
• Experience supporting manufacture or production engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and support submarine propulsor systems.
• Assess material selection and suitability for applications.
• Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers and external stakeholders.
• Evaluate manufacturability and production processes for complex components.
• Work with metallic, composite and coated material systems.
• Ensure compliance throughout the full engineering lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance on large-scale precision assemblies.
