Job summary

Matchtech Group seeks a Principal Engineer specializing in Support Engineering and Reliability Centred Maintenance to support submarine-related programmes. The role is a 12-month contract with hybrid working; on-site presence is required two to three days per week at Barrow, Brough or Filton.

The successful candidate will lead senior engineering activities, apply reliability principles, review documentation and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, maintainable

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a Principal Engineer or senior engineering role.
• Strong knowledge of Support Engineering and RCM principles.
• Experience in defence, security, marine or similarly regulated environments.
• Understanding of maintainability, availability and lifecycle engineering.
• Ability to analyse technical information and craft evidence-based solutions.
• Excellent report writing, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior engineering input across Support Engineering and RCM activities.
• Develop and apply reliability, maintainability and supportability principles.
• Lead RCM analyses and produce clear technical recommendations.
• Identify operational, maintenance and equipment reliability requirements.
• Prepare and review technical documentation and supportability evidence.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, maintenance and project teams.
• Contribute to risk assessments, technical reviews and continuous improvement.
• Communicate complex engineering information to stakeholders.
