JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Principal Engineer - Mechanical Engineering (Propulsor) in Barrow-in-Furness. Hybrid working arrangement, 12-month contract. Day rates shown as £43 per hour PAYE or £57.97 per hour Umbrella Inside IR35.

The role involves supporting design, manufacture, installation and refurbishment of submarine propulsor systems, engaging with stakeholders to deliver precision components.

Qualificações

• Strong background in mechanical engineering within a complex engineering environment.
• Experience with large, high-value engineered assemblies.
• Knowledge of metallic and composite materials.
• Understanding of machining processes and manufacturing capability.
• Familiarity with casting, forging and tolerancing principles.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Experience supporting manufacture, design integration or production engineering activities.

Responsabilidades

• Support the design and development of submarine propulsor systems.
• Assess material selection and suitability for engineering applications.
• Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers and external stakeholders.
• Evaluate manufacturability and production processes for complex components.
• Work with metallic, composite and coated material systems.
• Ensure compliance throughout the full engineering lifecycle, from concept through to in-service support.
• Provide technical guidance relating to large-scale precision-engineered assemblies.
