Job summary

You will join a Birmingham-based engineering business that delivers projects on factories and plants across oil, gas, food and beverages, defence and chemicals sectors. They act as Principal Contractor or EPC Contractor and work under JCT and IChemE forms of contract.

You’ll take ownership of several live projects with values around £5m–£10m, overseeing from design through handover while maintaining quality, cost control and schedule commitments.

Qualifications

• Senior project management experience delivering several multi-million-pound projects.
• Background in industrial or process environments, ideally live factory sites.
• Experience with Principal Contractor or EPC Contractor projects.
• Knowledge of JCT and IChemE contracts and CDM 2015 requirements.
• Strong commercial awareness with track record of delivering on budget.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of multiple projects with combined value of ~£5m–£10m.
• Oversee design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Carry out Principal Contractor duties under CDM 2015 including RAMS.
• Set budgets, monitor costs, forecasts and cash flow.
• Develop and manage programmes to hit milestones.
• Ensure quality meets client specifications and contractual standards.
• Administer contracts, handle variations and claims.
• Procure and manage subcontractors and suppliers on site.
• Identify risks early and implement mitigation plans.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate client meetings.

Principal Project Manager

Location - Birmingham

Are you a Project Manager who enjoys running several major projects at once? Do you have experience delivering EPC or Principal Contractor projects on live industrial sites? Would you like a senior role with real ownership of quality, programme and cost?

What will you be doing?

• Taking full ownership of several projects at once, with a combined value of roughly £5m to £10m
• Overseeing every stage of delivery, from design and procurement through to construction, commissioning and handover
• Carrying out Principal Contractor duties under CDM 2015, including construction phase plans, RAMS and site safety
• Setting budgets and tracking costs, forecasts and cash flow
• Building and managing project programmes so milestones are met
• Setting quality standards and making sure the finished work meets the client's specification
• Administering contracts, including variations, change control and claims
• Procuring and managing subcontractors and suppliers, and holding them to account on site
• Identifying project risks early and putting plans in place to manage them
• Leading and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients, running progress meetings and reporting on performance
