Job summary

Russell Taylor Group is seeking a Principal Project Manager in Birkenhead to lead multiple live EPC/Principal Contractor projects. You will own quality, programme and cost across projects in industrial settings, reporting to clients and coordinating design, procurement, construction and handover.

The role demands senior PM experience on multi-million-pound projects, with strong commercial acumen and ability to manage subcontractors and budgets. Competitive package on offer.

Qualifications

• Senior project management experience on multiple multi-million-pound projects.
• Industrial or process environments, live factory or plant sites preferred.
• Experience with Principal Contractor or EPC Contractor roles.
• Working knowledge of JCT and IChemE contracts.
• Solid understanding of CDM 2015 requirements.
• Strong commercial awareness and cost control history.

Responsibilities

• Own several projects concurrently with total values of £5m–£10m.
• Oversee design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Perform Principal Contractor duties under CDM 2015 including RAMS.
• Set budgets, forecast cash flow and monitor costs.
• Develop and manage project programmes to meet milestones.
• Ensure quality standards align with client specifications.
• Administer contracts and manage variations and claims.
• Procure and manage subcontractors and suppliers on site.
• Identify risks early and implement mitigation plans.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams and liaise with clients.

Principal Project Manager

Location - Birkenhead

Do you have experience delivering EPC or Principal Contractor projects on live industrial sites?

What will you be doing?

• Taking full ownership of several projects at once, with a combined value of roughly £5m to £10m
• Overseeing every stage of delivery, from design and procurement through to construction, commissioning and handover
• Carrying out Principal Contractor duties under CDM 2015, including construction phase plans, RAMS and site safety
• Setting budgets and tracking costs, forecasts and cash flow
• Building and managing project programmes so milestones are met
• Setting quality standards and making sure the finished work meets the client's specification
• Administering contracts, including variations, change control and claims
• Procuring and managing subcontractors and suppliers, and holding them to account on site
• Identifying project risks early and putting plans in place to manage them
• Leading and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients, running progress meetings and reporting on performance

Where you'll be doing it?

You’ll join a Birmingham-based engineering business that delivers projects on factories and plants across the oil and gas, food and beverage, defence and chemicals sectors. They act as Principal Contractor or EPC Contractor and work under JCT and IChemE forms of contract.

What you’ll need:

• Senior project management experience, delivering several multi-million-pound projects at the same time
• A background in industrial or process environments, ideally on live factory or plant sites
• Experience working for a Principal Contractor or EPC Contractor
• Working knowledge of JCT and IChemE contracts
• A good understanding of CDM 2015
• Strong commercial awareness, with a track record of delivering projects on budget
• Experience managing subcontractors and suppliers
• Confidence leading teams and building strong client relationships
