Are you ready to lead the future of energy infrastructure?

As our Civil and Structural team continues to grow at the heart of BakerHicks’ power division, we’re looking for an ambitious Principal Engineer to help deliver large-scale, high-impact projects in the power sector.

Whether you’re leading a major programme or several smaller schemes, this is your opportunity to make a real impact—technically, commercially, and as a mentor to the next generation of engineers.

  • Shape the UK's energy infrastructure across grid upgrades, renewable developments, and power facilities—from concept to construction
  • Take full ownership of projects through the complete lifecycle
  • Guide and develop a team of graduate engineers and technicians
  • Collaborate with a supportive leadership group invested in your progression
  • Work on a varied and active portfolio—you won’t get bored

What we’re looking for

  • Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer (CEng MICE / MIStructE)
  • Background in infrastructure design and project delivery, ideally in the power sector
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing delivery against budget, schedule, and quality standards
  • Skilled communicator, confident engaging with clients and internal teams
  • Passion for mentoring junior staff
  • UK driving licence and relevant engineering qualification (degree, HNC or HND)

Your impact

  • Lead civil and structural design delivery across a range of energy projects
  • Manage project resources, schedules, and budgets
  • Ensure compliance with technical standards and business systems
  • Help shape the future capability and culture of our C&S Power team

At BakerHicks Manchester, you’ll find the perfect balance: the backing of a leading consultancy, with the agility and camaraderie of a close-knit regional team.
